In this workshop, Michael explains and demonstrates to students that he uses the same stages of the writing process in his work of songwriting as they are taught in school: prewriting, writing, editing and publishing.
The 45 minute workshop cleverly combines performing with instruction, leaving students in awe of Michael's abilities and inspired to begin new writing challenges of their own.
This workshop is recommended for grades 4 through 8, is approximately 45 minutes in length and is most effective with 40 to 60 students.
"Music and the Computer"
In the past twenty years, music technology has accelerated so quickly that even professional musicians have difficulty staying abreast of the latest developments. The direction this technology has taken is truly amazing and offers today's musicians new opportunities never before imagined.
As Michael performs his songs accompanied by the Roland XP-60 Music Workstation and Yamaha's WX5 Midi Controller, he will demonstrate, with the help of students, how these computer instruments work, and discuss how the computer is changing the world of music.
This workshop is recommended for grades K through 8, is approximately 45 minutes in length and is most effective with 40 to 60 students.
