Jingles and Musical Production

Michael began producing jingles in Tampa, Florida 18 years ago. He wrote the first jingle to help advertise John David's Restaurant, where he was performing at the time.

Realizing he had a special talent for writing and producing jingles, Michael contracted with several other companies in the Tampa area. Considering jingles paid better than any other aspect in the music business, the money earned from these productions allowed Michael the financial means to move his family to the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia. There, people in the advertising business told him that there was no market for jingles in the Valley area. All the productions were being done by jingle houses from New York, Los Angeles and so on. If you could sell one, he was told, you could never get the kind of money Michael was used to. That was all he needed to hear. From that point on, whenever you turned on the radio you could be sure to hear one of his productions all day long, and sometimes two or three in a row.

Producing some 50 musical productions, Michael Geddes has become a notable name in advertising in the Shenandoah Valley area. On top stations from Country to Rock to News, Michael's jingles are making companies household names.

His secret?... listening to the needs of clients, transferring that talent for writing jingles.

Michael has also written music for film and television. When he was 19 years old, he wrote his first theme music for "Another Day for Teresa", a Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation fund raising film. In 1986, he wrote and produced "Home Town Christmas" for WHSV TV in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The show ran during the Holiday season for six consecutive years, using Michael's theme song.

In 1996, Michael wrote, arranged and recorded all of the music for "A Slow Train to Yesterday", for WVPT Public Television in Harrisonburg. The show has become one of the best fund raisers ever for that station.

Having the experience of being a singer - song writer has enabled Michael to produce all of the productions in his record company, Shenandoah Records. This includes two albums of his own.
